Mike has served six congregations over his 40 plus years of parish ministry that varied in worship size from 100 – 6500. He is a gifted leader with exceptional skills in teaching, preaching, consulting and writing. He has authored several books, including Power Surge, A Servant’s Manual, Real Faith for Real Life, The Disciple’s Joy, and Reviving the Congregation (Fortress Press) and From Members to Disciples (Abingdon Press).
Mike received his BA from Pacific Lutheran University in 1970, his M Div. from Wartburg Theological Seminary in 1974, and his Master’s Degree in Theology and Spirituality from Mount Angel Benedictine Seminary in 1986. Mike also was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree by Wartburg Theological Seminary in 1999.
Over the past several years Mike has regularly consulted and spoke with church leaders across the country on effective congregational ministry, renewing judicatory vitality and the power of discipleship to energize the church at large.
